Kristen is from Northwestern Ontario, having been raised in Thunder Bay and Dryden. She attended Osgoode Hall Law School, graduating in 1991. She has been a lawyer since 1993 and practiced in Thunder Bay until 2019. She has now established a practice in Durham Region.
She served as President of the Thunder Bay Law Association in 2006.
She was President of Creighton Youth Services from 2007 to 2009.
She is a director of the Durham Region Law Association.
Kristen received an award from the Thunder Bay Law Association in 2006 for distinguished service to the legal profession and the Ontario Justice Education Network Chief Justices' Award for contribution to public legal education in 2007.
She served for 7 years as an Executive member of the County and District Law Presidents' Association (now FOLA) and was a member of the St. Joseph's Hospital Research and Ethics Board.
Kristen's law practice is mainly divorce and family law and has been doing so since 1993.
She was a Contract Lecturer at the Bora Laskin School of Law, Lakehead University, teaching Family Law to third year law students. She is currently the editor of the Divorce Act Manual.
She also assists in the preparation of Wills and Powers of Attorney.
Kristen has two daughters.
